Global Talent arts and culture evidence: recognition, countries and categories
A distinguished creative record must still be translated into the precise Arts Council pathway. Professional work, international standing, evidence categories and personal attribution should reinforce one another.

Confirm the correct artistic pathway first.
Combined arts, dance, literature, music, theatre and visual arts use the Arts Council pathway considered here. Film and television, architecture, fashion and design have distinct specialist criteria.
The field and standard should be settled before evidence is allocated, particularly where a practice crosses disciplines.

Map the professional and international record.
The record should show professional work and recognition at the Talent or Promise standard across the relevant period and countries. Geography alone does not establish standing; the quality and context of the work matter.
Create a chronology of performances, exhibitions, publications or appearances with country, date, organiser, audience and personal role.

Use the evidence categories deliberately.
The current framework considers categories including media recognition, prizes and professional appearances or exhibitions. The application should meet the required category combination with recent, attributable evidence.
Up to ten evidence items may be used, each subject to the applicable page and recency limits. The three recommendation letters and CV are separate requirements.

01Does all arts evidence use the same criteria?+
No. Combined arts and related fields, film and television, architecture, fashion and design use different specialist pathways and should be assessed separately.
02How many pieces of evidence can be submitted?+
The current public guidance for the combined arts pathway permits up to ten single pieces of evidence from the last five years, with applicable page limits.
03Can a group award support an individual application?+
Potentially, but the applicant's contribution and credit should be proved clearly. The standing and category of the award also matter.
