Plan the household, not only the athlete or coach.
A partner and qualifying children can apply under the route, subject to relationship, finance, suitability and other requirements. Timing can affect school, work, travel and the evidence available to the family.
Each dependant has their own application and immigration history. The principal applicant’s sporting move should be mapped against every family member’s position.

Protect the residence record from the beginning.
Where settlement is an objective, travel and status records should be maintained contemporaneously. Sporting travel can be intensive, and later reconstruction of absences is vulnerable to gaps or inconsistent sources.
Club changes, loans and new contracts should be checked for their effect on sponsorship and continuous permission before the sporting move is completed.

Settlement is a fresh eligibility decision.
The route can lead to settlement, but the current sponsor, salary, endorsement, residence, English language and Life in the UK requirements must be satisfied at the settlement stage.
Dependants may not reach settlement at exactly the same time. Family sequencing and alternative rights should be reviewed before applications are filed.
